If I had a dollar for every time I heard

“Aren’t you too skinny to work here?” at work I’d be a rich bitch by now. I work at a store for sizes 12-26. I can fit into most of the jeans there, some tops but usually the 12’s are even just a little loose. So, I do get it a little bit but I represent the smallest size they have there, just like there are girls that represent the largest working there. 

But WHY do people think it’s okay to make a snide comment about it! It’s crazy! If a thin girl when up to a thicker girl working in a “regular” store and asked why they were working there it’d be a huge deal. 

Example from the other day:

Customer- “So, why are you working here? Last time I can in it was 2 bigger gals working here”

Me- *smiles* “Oh, well I am a size 12 and that is a size we carry, and we still do have girls here that are larger sizes than me. I think we try and represent the whole spectrum.” *smiles more*

Customer- “Oh, well when I go into Lane Bryant it’s always HUGE girls working there. I think I like it better, makes me feel skinny….just seems like you girls (referring to my also size 12 co worker) are rather skinny for here”

LIKE WAT

At first I brushed it off, but I’m hearing it at least once a shift now. I just don’t get some people.

Maybe I should take it as a compliment? I feel like that’s just bitchy though. I try and be as nice as I can, I really do like my job and helping girls feel beautiful. I love it in fact! I hate feeling like my size is hindering that.

I’m going to be in lovely San Diego in 11 days.

It’ll be a wonderful change from this dreary Washington weather. It’s snowing outside right now. And it’s not even the good kind, it’s the “stick for a few hours and then turn into dirty slush” kind of snow. 

Oh, and did I mention I am going to see my love for the first time in 2 and a half months? ( ˘ ³˘)♥

It’ll be nice even if it’s only for 4 days.

2 girls in my math class so far

Girl 1:

“LOL oh you know I’m just kind of a nerd, I’m a girl but I’m also a nerd. Most people think I am weird and nerdy becasue I like Harry Potter! BUT WHATEVER! I love the movies! I’ve been to all of them but I haven’t read any of the books. I just a nerdy girl….I love yoshi.”

Girl 2:

“YEAH I’m nerdy………..I like to play FINAL FANTASY! I’m kind of a girl gamer, most people think I’m weird for wanting to play video games all day cuz I am a girl! HAHA!”

I really, really hope my dress looks just like it did in the picture. I’m so worried. I am not even going to get it until the 25th or so because the shipping/processing takes for ever and ever.
